stream is low, and the fish are concentrated in the deeper holes.lost flies to the snags, but every time I managed to get a streamer under the cutbank I was rewarded with a strike.mostly browns from 12" to 18" but Idid land one very nice rainbow of 20". fished the pond in the afternoon out of my float tube and landed 6 fat, healthy rainbows all between 16"-20" buggers and a platte river special on the stream and damselfly nymphs and calibaetis emergers on the pond

Comments on C-68 Lwr Michigan River

I fished the first three beaver ponds exclusively, hopper and a dropper on the way upstream and streamers on the way downstream.I caught about 15 browns one was all of 4" long, and he ate a foam hopper almost as big as he was. BTW, he was the only strike I got on the hopper. fished a tandem rig with a PT and a olive leech low and slow, and all the strikes were on the leech. browns are starting to chase each other around, will be spawning soon.

Great day on the property, primarily fishing a large tan hopper. Bluebird weather and windy , with the flow at 180 CFS, which was just right to get around and still have sufficient water in most runs. Early AM fishing was somehat slow with beadheads/stoneflys--but a light trico hatch about 11 AM seemed to turn the fish on. The best fishing was with the hopper through midday. Many large cutbows and rainbows, with one heavy 22" brown that took the hopper in the tail of a deep run.

Comments on C-57 Yampa River/Catamount

The Yampa is running about twice it's normal late August flow. The water was a bit cloudy and there is quite a bit of moss in the water, making it very difficult to fish nymphs. The fish were not in their normal August holding spots either. They were in the long runs directly in the current. We had all our success on streamers. The fish were not hammering them in their normal way. We had to resort to using strike indicators because we were missing fish. It was a difficult day of fishing with a total of 8 fish caught between three of us. Largest fish was 21" with all the others being 17" to 19". There didn't seem to be a difference in type of streamer or color.

Really nice piece of property - Small but nice. Started around 9 and fished until 3. Lots of fish to be found but really hard to get them interested in eating. Started with some dries but knew that wouldn't work but always hopeful..... Then went with a dry, dropper, dropper. The bottom beinf a pheasant tail - plain no bead. Nothing hit a bead today. Finally got 2 on the stimulator dry. Small around 8-9 inches. Then the big ones decided the PT was looking good. Hooked 10 and only landed 2. These may be planted fish and pets to the owner but they are really powerful. Light hit but once they felt the hook the rtace was on. Really hard to land with 5x or 6x. Just too many obstacles. Straightened 2 hooks trying to keep them away from stumps. Even though I didn't land them they still gave me some time to play before laughing at me.
A really nice day - BTW I really enjoyed the picnic table and the park bench. Just nice to have a place to sit down!!!
